Pavel Tichoň

Pavel Tichoň graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under the guidance of Milan Knížák and Michael Bielický. He also pursued a residency at the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague in 2003 and 2004. In his art practice, he shows a strong tendency to browse through different visual media, which allows him to approach the critical examination of contemporary society in a playful and idiosyncratic manner. He often draws inspiration from art history (as in the painting Haymaker According to Tizian) and advertising materials, approaching them with a dose of irony, exaggeration, and wordplay, despite the seriousness of his artistic message.
