We cordially invite you to a lecture by Sára Märc: The Silent Drivers of Fossil Capitalism,
which will take place on Friday, July 25th at 1:00 PM as part of the Summer School – Becoming Stone program.
Sára’s lecture is based on her long-term research into more-than-human perspectives within the coal industry and its histories. For this occasion, she has prepared a presentation focused on the phenomenon of mining ponies – four-legged miners who spent their entire lives underground pulling coal. These animals lived in the thousands beneath the surface across Europe and the United States and played a crucial role in driving industrial progress and the rise of modern society.
SÁRA MÄRC moves fluidly between artistic research and curatorial practice. After completing her master’s degree at DAMU in Prague, she begins her doctoral studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology (FaVU VUT), where her research focuses on the colonial imagination present in visions and plans for space mining. As a curator, she is part of the team at etc. gallery in Prague, an institution dedicated to the presentation and research of moving image art.
If you are interested in attending the lecture, please send a registration email to edukace@pragovkagallery.cz.
