Concert TOO HOT TO HÄNDEL / accompanying program to the exhibition

The innovative concert performance TOO HOT TO HÄNDEL by husband-and-wife duo Viktorie and Kryštof Kaplan brings together the vocal and instrumental works of renowned Baroque composer George Frideric Handel with the vibrant world of electronic music. Soprano and musicologist Viktorie Kaplanová (Victoria Ensemble), a lifelong devotee of historically informed Baroque performance, joins forces with Kryštof Kaplan (Vložte kočku), a prominent figure in Czech electronic music. Synthesizers and samplers expand the expressive possibilities of Handel’s compositions—highlighting textual dynamics, enhancing emotional depth, and enabling rapid emotional shifts—while preserving the essential Baroque polarity between bass and upper voices.
