GEOVYBEH / Vernissage

Martin Káňa is an author from the middle generation, who graduated from the Drawing Studio of Jitka Svobodová of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. His art praxis includes a wide spectrum of media, such as sculptures, objects, installations, paintings, and assemblages. For a long time, he has been fascinated by geopolitical topics which he elaborates on in his works using a visual, frequently pop hyperbole and critical message. His visually complex solo exhibition aptly called Georun is no different as it presents both well-known older works and resonating brand new ones. Georun represents a carefully limited territory which declares his ability to undermine the established ideas about both past and present geopolitical systems and clashes of civilizations. Káňa rears his head again in exhibition spaces after some time as his loud laughter echoes in raw spaces of the White Room.
