We warmly invite you to a presentation of the results of Czech artist Šimon Sýkora’s residency. On Thursday, February 12, starting at 6 p.m., you will have the opportunity to visit the residency studio, meet the artist, and gain a deeper insight into his month-long exploration and creative process.
Šimon Sýkora (*1990, CZ) is a painter who works with motifs of wandering and the periphery. In his paintings, he captures transitional spaces—the edges of cities, rural landscapes, and transit zones—inhabited by figures torn from place and time. During his residency, he focuses on experimental spatial creation using materials obtained from local sources in Prague. He reflects on the principles of sharing, reciprocity, and circulation of materials that are at the core of Artreus’s functioning, while expanding his painting practice to include a spatial and participatory dimension. The project connects ecological, social, and artistic levels and creates space for dialogue with the local community and other artists within the Pragovka complex.
